About Kidney Beam

Kidney Beam is an award-winning digital healthcare company building exercise and lifestyle management programmes for people living with cardio-kidney-metabolic (CKM) conditions, working with NHS and international partners to deliver clinically-backed exercise, education and health coaching.

We're a small, ambitious team moving from start-up to scale-up, with a growing pipeline of new work. We need an experienced operations professional to build and own the operational infrastructure that supports the business.

The Role

A broad, high-ownership role spanning cross-functional operational support across the critical areas of our business. You'll work closely with the CEO and senior team to professionalise how the business runs as it scales, while also supporting our health coaching function and a new initiative to apply AI tools to internal processes.

Some structure already exists, but a good deal of it you'll be creating from scratch. This suits someone who enjoys turning ambiguity into clear process, is comfortable being both hands-on and strategic, and wants genuine ownership rather than a supporting seat.

One more thing: if you've read this far, tell us your favourite bean-based dish somewhere in your cover letter - it's how we'll know you've actually read the spec, not just skimmed a summary.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Process

  • Own day-to-day operations, acting as the main point of contact for operational queries across sales, product, clinical, technology and finance

  • Build and continually improve scalable processes, policies and documentation as the business grows.

  • Manage relationships with key operational suppliers and advisors

  • Drive ongoing improvement to the company's technical ecosystem

  • Lead planning and delivery of strategic projects, including grant funding applications, managing timelines, budgets, risks and stakeholders.

  • Support commercial and sales activity - client onboarding, pricing documentation, planning meetings and business reporting.

Team & Service Delivery

  • Hire and line-manage a Customer Success & Operations Coordinator from day one, building a scalable team structure over time.

  • Ensure excellent operational delivery of our service, working with the clinical team on workflows, scheduling and onboarding as it scales.

AI & Automation

  • Lead adoption of AI and automation tools to improve productivity, working with teams to redesign workflows where it makes sense.

  • Help establish governance for the safe use of AI, and measure the impact of automation initiatives.

Compliance

  • Drive improvements to our compliance framework, including DSPT, DTAC, Cyber Essentials Plus, medical device regulatory classification

  • Maintain policies, procedures and compliance registers; act as primary point of contact for audits.

  • Identify and mitigate compliance risk, working with technical, clinical and external advisers as the regulatory landscape evolves.

About You

You'll probably enjoy this role if you have start-up or scale-up operations experience and like building processes from the ground up; have the ability to operate across multiple critical business functional areas; are highly organised, proactive and comfortable managing ambiguity; communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels; already use AI tools to improve how you work; and have a genuine interest in health technology's impact.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in healthcare, health-tech or another regulated industry

  • Operations or business management, ideally in a health-tech start-up or scale-up

  • Planning and delivering projects, ideally including grant-funded or client-facing work

  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication

  • Comfortable working independently and managing ambiguity

  • Familiarity with compliance processes (e.g. medical device classification, DTAC, DSPT, audits, data protection, insurance)

Desirable

  • Experience using AI tools to improve business processes

  • Familiarity with tools such as Monday.com, Slack, Zapier, Google Workspace, SQL, Figma or Claude/ChatGPT

  • Experience supporting fundraising, board reporting or investor relations

  • Line management experience

What We Offer

  • Fully remote working, with flexibility on hours for the right candidate

  • Genuine ownership - the chance to shape how operations works as we scale

  • A friendly, supportive, mission-driven team, and meaningful work improving patients' lives
