Kidney Beam wins “Best Digital Health Solution” at the Prix Galien UK Awards!

The Kidney Beam team are celebrating a win at the Prix Galien UK Awards 2025, after being named winners of the “Best Digital Health Solution” category at the prestigious event.

Held by The Galien Foundation, the Prix Galien Awards recognise the top innovators in health and life sciences, particularly those whose work holds great promise for patients worldwide.

Kidney Beam was awarded the title following the results of a pioneering clinical trial, in which our digital health intervention - developed in partnership with King’s College Hospital London - was clinically-proven to provide significant improvements in mental health-related quality of life, physical function, fatigue, social engagement, and patient self-management behaviour for people with chronic kidney disease and associated risk factors.

Other winners at the awards included the University of Oxford, Sanofi, AstraZeneca and Merck Sharp & Dohme, all recognised for groundbreaking achievements in their respective fields.

Professor Sharlene Greenwood, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Kidney Beam, said: “I’m thrilled to accept this prestigious award on behalf of Kidney Beam, our colleagues at King’s College Hospital, and many others in the NHS who’ve contributed to the project.”

“Like a lot of today’s healthtech innovations, this journey began in the Covid-19 pandemic, when clinically-vulnerable people living with kidney disease were forced to shield, worsening isolation and sedentary behaviour among a population who already struggled to remain active and well.”

“Fast-forward five years and we have a successful clinical trial published in The Lancet Digital Health, proving that Kidney Beam is a cost-effective, clinically-effective and a safe way to improve health-related-quality-of-life in people with kidney disease. And we have a Prix Galien award for our trophy cabinet!”
