New investment to increase access to Kidney Beam
Thousands more people living with kidney disease will be able to improve their health thanks to significant new investment in Kidney Beam.
We have secured a total of £610,000 in seed funding to help on our journey to revolutionise virtual kidney care, including a sizeable contribution from charity Kidney Research UK.
The new funding will enable us to expand our reach further into underserved communities, enhance the usability of the platform, and forge new partnerships. The next goal is to see Kidney Beam commissioned throughout the NHS, particularly as our modelling predicts it could save the NHS over £140m if rolled out across the UK.
Lucy Sreeves, executive director at Kidney Research UK said: "We have shown the rate of growth of the kidney population threatens to overwhelm the NHS, therefore investment in innovative approaches to patient care is essential. Kidney Beam offers just this, spearheading the shift from bricks and mortar-based care to digital delivery."
Sharlene Greenwood, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer for Kidney Beam, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the steadfast support from our investors and partners, including that from Kidney Research UK as our lead investor, the National Kidney Federation, the Sheffield Area Kidney Association and lots of people from the kidney community who invested via a crowdfunding platform. Together, we are committed to delivering better health outcomes for those living with kidney disease.”
Katie Bell, co-founder and CEO of Kidney Beam. “This new investment reflects our commitment to transforming kidney health and showcases the resilience of innovation in this critical field. The statistics clearly highlight the need for continued support and investment in areas like kidney health, which remain underfunded yet vital.”
